Triangirls: 🙌 2019 wrap up and 2020 spoilers ✨Issue #16
As the year is drawing to a close we’ve spent some time reflecting on all the amazing events that have happened this year and all the support this community has given us as well as each other. Even though there are only a few weeks left of 2019 we still have lots to share!
✨What we were up to in November
🤝Everyday actions - Allyship in the workplace
Sponsored by Thread & Clearscore
Last month we had a special event at Thread, this event was open to everyone, not just womxn. We had a panel discussion about being an ally at work and creating an environment for equality. The feedback that we have received has been amazing and we’re so glad that so many of you found the event insightful as well as something that you could learn from.
If you didn’t get a chance to make the event don’t worry! Sandra Pallier, who is an active member of the Triangirls community has done a marvellous write up of the event here: Allyship in the workplace. Or if you’re more into social media, then check out our Instagram highlights here.
📸More pics here - thank you to Luke & Raquel for shooting them for us!
✨What we were up to in December
🤑Hired Event - Equal Pay Day
On 3rd December, we partnered with Hired to host a special salary negotiation workshop for underrepresented tech workers. This workshop focused on helping womxn understand the fundamental principles of negotiation and developing strategies for negotiating authentically and confidently. The event was a huge success and it was wonderful to see so many of the Triangirls community there.
As the tickets were limited for those in the Triangirls community we understand if you couldn’t make it. We have a recap of the event which you can read here. Or if you’re more into social media, then check out our Instagram highlights here.

🙌 Thank Yous!
As we said at the beginning of this newsletter, we’ve reflected on how wonderful this year has been for Triangirls. We want to say a big thank you to our community for believing in us, coming to our events, and for giving us wonderful feedback.
We’d also like to thank everyone who’s spoken at our events, and for sharing your amazing and brave stories over the year. We know how scary it can be standing up in a room full of people, but these stories are what make our community so wonderful.
Not only are our speakers so important to us, but we’d also like to say a thank you to everyone who has hosted us over the last 12 months. We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many individuals and their companies and we really appreciate being given a safe space to host our talks.
We’d also like to say a few special mentions, first to Compare The Market Tech - they were our first long-term sponsor and without them, we wouldn’t have been able to grow the community as much as we did. Their contributions have helped us maintain our online presence such as our website costs, email account, as well as things such as business cards and the awesome swag that we can give out at each event.
We’d also like to thank our new long term sponsor ClearScore for supporting us. We’re incredibly grateful that ClearScore is inline with our vision of creating the best Womxn in tech event in London. We’re excited for 2020 and all the amazing events we’ll be able to put on due to ClearScore’s ongoing support.
💖Our crew
We’d also like to say a few words of thanks to individuals who have helped us over the last year. As some of you know Rachael, Anna and Liz work full-time jobs as well as running Triangirls, this means sometimes we need support from others. Thankfully we have a marvellous community who we can reach out to!
👉 Monique — our advisor. Without her help we wouldn’t have been able to set up as an unincorporated association. She’s also shit hot at whipping us into shape when we need it! She has helped us go from a small group of womxn hanging out at galleries to a monthly sell-out event.
👉 Ilinca — created our seriously stunning (and somewhat now-famous) illustration style. Without Ilinca our brand wouldn’t be as strong as it is, nor as sexy.
👉 Chloe - Jumps in to help when we need. Whether that’s taking over our social media for the evening, or helping us set up events. Chloe has been someone we can rely on to get us out of a pickle.
👉 Rachel - is our current illustrator. Not only has Rachel reinforced the Triangirls brand with her work, but she has also inspired us with her creative ideas, as well as her quick turn around times!
👉 Raquel - Our ever so awesome photographer! Raquel has been capturing the Triangirls events for a while now and we really appreciate all the amazing photos she has shot over the last year.
And last but not least all of our Triangles community —our allies. Thank you for promoting our events, or speaking up on our behalf, it means a lot to us and has definitely helped us grow the community an incredible amount, so thank you Alex Manthei, Sean Geraghty, Matt Vagni and Ollie Strang! And everyone else who’s got our backs.
This year has been an absolute blast, we’re super excited for what 2020 will bring so watch this space! We’ve already got some awesome events planned!
