Triangirls: A huge thank you 🥳 - Issue #13
Two weeks ago we had our birthday celebration and WOW how amazing was that?! We’re still beaming ear to ear and it was so lovely to celebrate with you all – It's an evening we won't forget! Though we’ve been a little quiet about how the event went, it’s only down to the fact we wanted to take some time to let all your positive feedback sink in.
Don’t just take our word for it, Liz a member of the Triangirls community has written this review of the event.
“The Triangirls party was an amazing event! Not only was it a great retrospective of the last year and the events held, but it was also a wonderful reminder of how much these events have helped me and other women in their careers.
Though the event was a party, we were still able to focus on developing our career and networks as there were inspiring tech companies such as Pusher, Hired, Deliveroo, Monzo and Intercom all in the same room. By having all these companies in one space it was almost like a mini career fair where we could speak to companies about the roles and opportunities they had - just at this career fair, there was an awesome bar too!
Like all the Triangirls events I've been to, the food and drinks were out of this world. We had tasty bao-buns (Including vegan options) pizza, classy cocktails and to top it off ice-cream rolls!
It was truly an excellent evening that I really enjoyed, celebrating this amazing community”

A huge thank you...
In addition to thanking our wonderful community, we’d also like to say a huge thank you to our amazing event sponsors. Without them, our birthday party celebration couldn't have happened and it was an absolute joy to collaborate with them.
We’d like to thank Pusher for our photobooth! Not only did the ring light make us look flawless but we got so many photos of our community on the big screen!
Hired for bringing the utterly delicious ice cream rolls! They were incredible and I think made the event stand out as another level! If you didn’t get the chance to speak to the Hired team, then head over to hired.com/triangirls to find out more about their platform.
Also, thank you to Deliveroo for supplying the food. We really hope you enjoyed the food as much as we did. Besides the Deliveroo team providing a mouthwatering menu, they were also on the lookout for new team members! So if you fancy a new challenge get in touch with them for more details.
Speaking of new roles, both Monzo and the Intercom team were at our event sharing their opportunities so once again, if you didn’t get round to speaking to them then you can get in touch with Monzo here and Intercom here.
We’d also like to say thanks to Kymono who gave us a huuuuge discount on the trendy Triangirls tees. We’ve been wearing ours with pride since the event and hope you are too! If you’d like to create your own gear, head over to kymono.co for all the latest swag.
Last but not least cheers to The Bar People and xandwhy! The Bar People kept us pleasantly merry during the evening with their cocktails at a hefty discount 🍻 and xandwhy gave us the most stunning space for our first birthday bash! We absolutely loved the space, and hope you did too. If you want to visit xandwhy again, they have kindly offered all triangirls a free one day pass to use.

Overcoming Fear @ Farfetch - Wed 16 Oct 2019 at 18:30pm - SOLD OUT — www.eventbrite.co.uk
Talk #1 - Ellie Patten - Quiet isn't a dirty word
This is a talk for anyone who’s sick of being told they need to ‘come out of their shell’. In a society that favours outgoing and charismatic leaders, collaborative workspaces, and networking, sometimes it feels like the only way to get ahead is to become someone we’re not. But being ‘quiet’ doesn’t have to be a weakness. In this talk, I’ll tell you how I learnt to harness my ‘quiet’ strengths and overcome some of the hurdles of living in a loud world.
Talk #2 - Joanna Vass - How to take risks (learnings from an introvert)
The fear of taking risks keeps us comfortable but hinders our growth. Relying on others, perfectionism, self-doubt are all habits that can prevent us from making changes in our lives. As an introvert, I’m naturally risk-averse and have to make calculated decisions. In this talk, I’ll share my story of learning to take risks in my design career and personal life and how it’s helped shape me. I hope you will leave with some techniques on how to navigate change in your life.
FANCY DRESS IS ENCOURAGED!
You'll be fine - breakfast social @ Compare the Market - Tue 29 Oct 2019 at 08:00am — www.eventbrite.co.uk
Talk #1 - Ryan Hyslop - You'll be fine
When I learned I was going to be a dad and shared with other people my fears, the common response was “You’ll be fine”. When trying to understand what fine would look like to me, I took a lot of reassurance from reading about other dad’s experiences . I hope this talk, aside from being a free therapy session for me, will be of some support to others.
Talk #2 - Emily Sas - Parent in Tech: part-time, full-value
PT Engineers are few and far between, as are the companies that offer/advertise part-time roles. However engineering is a field that’s ideal for PT workers, and in my experience the company benefits just as much. I’ll talk a little about my experiences, both good and bad; why I think companies should embrace the opportunity to hire part time developers; and why as parents, we shouldn’t shy away from conversations around flexible working arrangements.
