Triangirls: Community Photos ๐ธ Event Announcement ๐ Issue #8
๐๐ป Hey Folks,
Being British, it would be wrong if I didn't start this newsletter by raving about the glorious weather we've been blessed with! I hope you are all enjoying the surprise sunshine and that it's giving you life.
February is quickly coming to and end: how is everyoneโs New Yearโs resolutions coming along? ๐ I am delighted to say we've been sticking to ours, and have plenty planned for you all this year. Rachael and I are loving sharing all the plans and goodness that has been happening in the Triangirls community. As always, if you have any feedback related to our events or community feel free to hit reply.
I want to say a massive thank you to Ilinca Roman, who has volunteered to help us evolve our brand with her gorgeous illustrations. I must say, our Instagram is looking rather beautiful! Ilinca also took some glorious photographs of us all during our February event. You'll see some sprinkled in this newsletter, and the whole collection on our website.
Stay fabulous โ๐ป

๐คฉ February Social x Idean
Rachael is going to tell us a little bit about our fantastic February Social...ย
The idea for our February social was thought up when I visited fellow Triangirl, Kelly. She told me that she would love to do a talk at one of our events, but didn't have the confidence. I felt exactly the same, so figured if we did, others might too.ย
Somewhat serendipitously, Ella tweeted her New Year's resolutions, which included wanting to do more public speaking: I thought she'd be perfect for our event. Having a big name speaker who does all of the conferences wouldn't have worked, we needed someone who was just like us (shit scared), someone we could all relate to. After speaking to Idean, they were keen to run a workshop, and coming up with a plan for your public speaking goal sounded awesome.ย
We knew the event was going to be great when we sold out of tickets super quickly and watched the waitlist grow and grow.ย
On the night itself, Idean's space looked amazing, we had catering from Feast & Social and Business Witch had some brilliant swag. The best thing about the night was the community. Everyone who spoke was doing it for the first time, and it felt amazing to give those individuals the opportunity to do that. Once we had finished the workshop, we opened the floor to people to come up in pairs and share their personal public speaking goals. It was so empowering to see so many of you get up and absolutely nail public speaking.
By the end of the evening, I was so full of tears, love and pride about the warm and welcoming community we've created, one where we really can help women face their fears and become stronger, together.
๐ Upcoming Socials & Events
Thursday 7th March - Closing the gap: the future of women in tech event
This month weโre mixing things up a little. Weโre partnering with The Learning People and Deliveroo to host a panel about Diversity and Inclusivity in Tech and why itโs so important that our workplaces are representative of our audience.
All are welcome to join us for an evening of discussion with some of the best names in the industry about the future of tech, the gender gap and how to build a thriving career for yourself in the current landscape.
April
Our topic of conversation will be on Women's Sexual Health & Mental Health. Speaker announcements and tickets will be released in the next newsletter.
๐ค Partnerships
Triangirls events are supported by sponsorship and volunteers. They help us with venues, food, drinks and organisation during the evening. Itโs thanks to our sponsors that Triangirls remains open and accessible to all women and non-binary folks.
Do you have a large breakout space in your office, an auditorium, or just a really nice large kitchen?
By partnering, youย will have the pleasure of meeting aย bunch of smart women, fromย the design and tech industry. Your workplaceย will be able to share any opportunities with the community, and give an insider view of what life is like working alongside your team. As part of the host package, your recruitment effortsย will be sharedย in monthlyย newsletter, onย Twitterย and in theย Triangles Invite-onlyย Slackย (600+ members).
๐ค Jobs
Work at Nested
โI really enjoy working with a lot of different teams and personalities at Nested. No two days are the same, and everyoneโs empowered to bring ideas and solutions to the table.โ - from Steph, a Product Manager at Nestedย
Job title:ย Senior Product Designer
Description:ย As a designer at a Nested, your day will mostly be spent working with your feature team (usually a PM and Engineers). Youโll either be working on solving problems for our customers or potential customers or designing better tools for our internal team.
Depending on the stage of the project and scope of the feature, you might be defining high level vision, flows and experience or delivering detailed design mockups and specs. Sometimes we need to help the marketing team out with some creative, or other teams in the company when design can add value.
Youโre likely to be facilitating or participating in design workshops, collaborating closely with your team and other people at the company. We work hard to measure the impact of the things we ship, so youโll know if your work is making a difference to our customers, and weโre always iterating and improving based in our research and customer feedback.
