Triangirls: New Identity π¨ Shake off January Blues ππ» Boss public speaking π¬ Issue #7
ππ» Hey Folks,
A massive welcome to all our new members and subscribers. Feel free to hit reply and say hello back! It's been a brilliant start to the year for us, and I am really looking forward to meeting you all in person.
We have events every month, from pub nights to talks. We are always on the lookout for venues and partnerships, searching for cool spaces at great companies.
We are building our list of speakers, workshop facilitators, mentors and panelists for the rest of the year. Our events are perfect for seasoned speakers, but we also aim to provide a safe, comfortable place to try out public speaking. If you are interested, add your details here. If public speaking isn't your thing, but you know someone who'd love the opportunity, please share the link with them. Make sure they mentioned that you referred them. We have some swag and goodies in production and we'd love to say thank you for being our supporter.
We now have an Instagram account, so give us a follow! We'll be sharing polls, stories during events and lovely photos of you lot. We'll also be sharing 'behind the scenes' glimpses into mine and Rachael's process. We're designers, we love a process!
Stay cool, but wrap up warm πβοΈ

β¨ Introducing our brand new look
In our previous newsletter, we mentioned that we have been working on the future of the community. One of the goals for this year was a rebrand. We wanted to give Triangirls an identity that represents who we are. We are very proud of our new look, and we hope you love it as much as we do.
Rachael describes her process...
Triangirls began life as a channel in a Slack group, so it made sense that our first logo was a hack of an emoji. But as our community grew, we knew we needed a more serious look.
As part of our rebranding process we spoke to our community about our name. We werenβt sure if it was too silly, too feminine, or too abstract. But the feedback was overwhelming: people really liked the name, so that bit was easy!
Next up, the logo. After creating a shared Pinterest board of ideas, we had a pretty good idea of the style and colour palette and were keen to include the upwards facing triangle as it looks like an upwards pointing arrow, and we're all about lifting each other up.
I first began looking at triangle glyphs. And 'protect' really stood out.Β
It works on so many levels. During our events, we all feel protected and like weβre in a safe space. And then the dot inside the shape reminded me of the speaker, and the shape the audience.Β
Adding a bit more visual treatment to the shapes made it really feel like a βlogoβ.
Weβre really happy with the final result and have had such amazing feedback from you all.
π Upcoming Socials & Events
We now have a fancy new page on the website to add the dates before the landing pages go live. We tend to organise events a month before we put them live, so now you can stick them in your calendar to make sure that you don't miss out.
"Loving this meet up - it's my first and feels like a breath of fresh air. Just want to hear more from inspiring ladies in the industry - it's so rare to hear much about women and great to celebrate their achievements and learnings." - November Attendee
Thu 31st January (Tomorrow!) - Pub Night social
For this month's social we'll be heading to the pub. Let's shake away those January blues, gossip, and dance the night away! It will be at Forge, which is a 2 minute walk away from Bank station. We've pre-ordered some food platters, and they've given us an extended happy hour. Cocktails are Β£5 until 10pm!
Wed 13th February - Triangirls x Idean
Weβve all heard a New Year, New Me - but how about a smaller, more achievable goal, like improving your confidence?
For our Triangirls social in February, weβre going to be sharing some tips on making public speaking easier, and maybe even a little less scary.
Ella Botting -Β The Imposter Syndromeβs Guide to Public Speaking
Ella wears many hats: she works as a user researcher for the Civil Service, she does admin work for @democlub, she volunteers for Refugees at Home and she promotes womxn in tech through herΒ #InterviewSeries. Ella is sh*t scared of public speaking, but is on a mission to embrace her fears and help others along the way to do the same.
Workshop with Idean
Public speaking is nerve-racking, but as with a lot of things in life it gets easier with practice. We'll be helping you set your public speaking goal and build a plan of how to get there.
We are at maximum capacity and our tickets are all sold out, so if you can't make it please release your tickets, so those on the waitlist can take your spot.
"Amazing community! I have met so many interesting inspirational women by going to Triangirls meet ups! And amazing speakers, and how all events are super organised. Loving it. Keep doing great work!" - November Attendee
π€ Partnerships
Triangirls events are supported by sponsorship and volunteers. They help us with venues, food, drinks and organisation during the evening. Itβs thanks to our sponsors that Triangirls remains open and accessible to all women and non-binary folks.
Do you have a large breakout space in your office, an auditorium, or just a really nice large kitchen?
By partnering, youΒ will have the pleasure of meeting aΒ bunch of smart women, fromΒ the design and tech industry. Your workplaceΒ will be able to share any opportunities with the community, and give an insider view of what life is like working alongside your team. As part of the host package, your recruitment effortsΒ will be sharedΒ in monthlyΒ newsletter, onΒ TwitterΒ and in theΒ Triangles Invite-onlyΒ SlackΒ (500+ members).
