Triangirls: Overcoming Fear 👻 Parenting Breakfast🤰Upcoming Events 🗓and much more! Issue #14
October was an amazing month for us, we celebrated Halloween by Overcoming Fear at Farfetch, and hosted another parenting breakfast event at Compare the Market.
Rachael was part of Samsung's #NotASchool campaign talking to students about how we can make tech the most inclusive industry in London – not only did the students find the event really useful, Rachael absolutely smashed it.
As the year is drawing to a close we've been thinking about organising Festive Drinks in December. If this is something you're interested in please let us know! You can do that by sending us an email at hello@triangirls.com, sending a us a tweet at @triangirlsocial.
Also we're incredibly excited to announce we have a long term sponsor - ClearScore! Over the next six months ClearScore will be supporting Triangirls by helping us maintain this amazing community and organising brilliant events.
Finally, we'd like to introduce Liz! If you follow us on social media or have attended some recent events you may have noticed a new face. As Triangirls as grown so much other the last year we're really excited to have a new member in our team.
✨ What we were up to in October
👻 Overcoming Fear
Sponsored by Farfetch & Clearscore
As Halloween set upon us there was only one theme we wanted to cover and that was fear! Fear can be a huge part of our daily lives, whether that's worried about public speaking and a diagnosed disorder, fear is a topic we should be talking about more.
At this month's social, Ellie Patten from Geckoboard shared with us on what it meant to be labelled as quiet and how this label should be embraced rather than seen as something to cure. Ellie’s talk was so inspiring. Not only was this her first public speaking event that Ellie has done, but there were close to 100 people in the room!
We also learnt how to take risks from Joanna Vass who is currently working at Farfetch. Joanna guided us through her story of understanding what she was afraid of, risk-taking and how she has got to a point where the only thing to fear was fear itself. We learnt that by not taking risks and avoiding them, we are taking an even bigger risk by doing nothing.
Our new team member Liz has written a detailed review of the event here. If you weren't able to make the event, don't worry! You can catch up with the event on our instagram story highlights.

🤰 Parenting Breakfast
Hosted by Compare the Market
Triangirls has worked with CompareTheMarket to house breakfast events to open up the conversation about being a parent and working in Tech. The event exists to encourage the sharing of experiences as well as building a support network for those who have children already and for those who plan to become parents soon. Thank you to everyone who attended, this was our second ever breakfast event and we're so happy with the response we've got so far. We’ll plan more of these in the future so those who can’t make it to our evening events won’t miss out!
Ryan Hyslop , Co-founder from We Make Waves and Emily Sas a Software Engineer at Compare the Market both shared their experiences with us. Once again it was great to hear real-life experiences from those who have families and work in tech. Not only is this event becoming a supportive community, but it is also becoming invaluable to those planning to grow their families while bossing it at work. It certainly was an inspirational way to start the morning. If you didn’t manage to join us, you can catch a summary on our Instagram Story or head over to our Medium to read Liz's review of the event.

The best part of Triangirls is meeting others in this industry as well as supporting other women. Triangirls has become a space where women can try things that they wouldn't normally, such as public speaking.
