Triangirls September Roundup - Issue #4
September was a memorable month for our community. From its beginnings as a Slack channel, Triangirls has grown rapidly, organically becoming an 'in real life' social group that has created some great friendships. I'm looking forward to meeting more of you at our monthly socials.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has shared our community with friends and colleagues. Women are far likely to flourish in Tech when they find other women to support them; I hope Triangirls continues to provide a space for this.
In the future, a few of our social events will have sponsors: this will support us in creating cooler evenings, with more speakers - and better snacks. To help us continue to do so, we will be pointing them in the direction of Triangles Slack. To prevent any confusion, the channel #triangirls has been renamed to #triangirlsocial.
If you have any questions, feel free to reply to this email. We also have a Twitter account now, which you can find here.
Keep bossing it ✌🏻

✅ Our September Social
Our monthly Social is perfect for those who aren't a fan of the usual networking formalities and just want to have a fun, relaxing time. We talked about how our summers had been, design challenges we were facing, tips on starting in new roles, and ideas for next year's summer holidays!
Being an open and supportive atmosphere, we got to know each other really well, and I felt like some valuable friendships were made.
We began the evening at Barsmith, and then popped over to Ladies, Wine & Design London - The big meetup, for an evening of drinks and casual conversation. What an evening!
The venue was fantastic. It was a very cute space, inspired by the fantasy world of fairy tales and Aesop’s fables. It was great for mingling, and it was nice to see a few familiar faces. We received a very warm welcome from the hosts from Ladies, Wine & Design. Thank you so much for having us.
➡️ Upcoming October Social
For our October Triangirls Social we’re taking things up a notch.
This will be our first event with a speaker, and I'm delighted to announce that it's Zoe Laughlin from the BBC’s Big Life Fix. Zoe is a Product Designer, Director of her own business and all-round badass woman. She’s coming to speak to us about how she got to where she is today, and her approach to designing physical products.
Geckoboard are kindly sponsoring the event, which will be taking place in Hello Fresh’s Instagram-worthy meeting space.
Make sure you pop Monday 22nd October in your calendars for an evening full of inspirational talks, drinks and pizza. There is also the opportunity for 10 minute lightning talks: if you have something you'd like to share, let us know.
This event is open to all women in tech, and you don't need to be part of Triangirls to come along. Feel free to bring along friends and colleagues.

Tab Woman on the Rise
TAB Women on the Rise is a support network to raise, discuss and challenge situations we come across at work. And simply to cheer each other on!
Small changes have a big impact over time. Women on the Rise creates an open dialogue - for men and women - to challenge how we do things today, so that we can all work towards an equal playing field.
Over the last year they've covered topics like: ‘Business is a game and you can win it’, ‘Make your voice heard’ and ‘Why women lose out at work - and what needs to be done about it’.
October is all about a new definition of success: questioning the things we’ve been told, identifying what’s holding us back and discussing how to move towards with the things we really want to achieve.
🔥 Mentorships
Hexagon UX
Hexagon is a community of women and non-binary individuals in UX who support each other by sharing stories and fostering growth at all stages of their careers.
Hexagon is a volunteer-run organisation that is made up of chapters based on geographic region. The community started life in San Francisco and has recently opened up in London.
This year's cohort kicked off with a matching event hosted at Google. The format was speed-dating style, between mentors and mentees. It was such good fun, and the conversation kept flowing. It felt different from a networking event, allowing us to be more 'real' with each other. I could have stayed chatting all night. I met some incredible, smart ladies from a variety of career experiences, some of which you may have met in Triangirls.
Hexagon will be running another cohort early next year. If you would be interested in joining as a mentor or mentee, email the organisers and let them know you come from Triangirls.
Thanks for having us Hexagon: it's a fantastic initiative and I look forward to all the success stories.
